The Ryerson Library in Grand Rapids, Michigan, successfully conducted its campaign, "Our Library: A Gift to the Generations" in 1999.  Its fundraising goal of $8,000,000 was part of an overall goal of $21,400,000 (the balance funded through bond millage plus interest) to create a completely renovated and upscale Library system serving West Michigan.  The comprehensive project consisted of seven completely outfitted branches and a magnificant Main Library buildt around the re-furbished historic Ryerson building that was re-opened for public use and blended with the 1967 addition.  In fact, the 1967 addition is now known as the Keeler Wing in recognition of their $1,200,000 gift from the Keeler Foundation in the project.

The Ryerson Foundation, created to raise funds for this project, as well as to create an endowment fund to support the Library, met with great success and exceeded its goal of $8,000,000 through generous community support and a Kresge challenge grant.
