Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay

Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay

In 1997, MAI was invited to work with Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Notre Dame Academy was the outcome of the consolidation of four individual private schools; and it quickly was growing into the area’s preeminent, college preparatory school. What started in 1997, grew into a 15 year partnership. Initially, MAI was contracted to perform a feasibility study on more than $13 million of critical needs. The amount sought of private support was unprecedented for the community. The recommendations of MAI that were developed out of the study were honest, but not necessarily what the leadership of the Academy wanted to hear.  It was evident in the study that the community was “not on the same page” with school leadership. The reality dictated a multi year approach with considerable cultivation.
MAI developed a comprehensive three phase approach to covering all of the needs tested.  Phase One called for a modest $1.5 million initiative to make some critical modifications to the school and show success in fund raising.  Although the prospect pool was almost entirely internal, the campaign was a success.  While renovations were being completed, MAI was contracted to do another community wide feasibility study to test the reaction to a Phase Two campaign in the $8-10 million range.  The cultivation and education efforts had had an enormous impact on the response.  The Phase Two campaign was set at a minimum of $8 million, with the final total raised closer to $11 million.  In 2012, MAI returned to Notre Dame to direct another community study to raise the final $3-4 million to cover unanswered facility needs and expand program access and opportunities.  Again, the community reacted with significant support positioning the school for a third fund raising effort.
